Meets 3rd Wednesday of the Month Description: Work with the Executive Officer to promote green building among membership. Act as a filtering agent for information regarding green building in an effort to provide clear, accurate and up to date guidance to members and consumers. Develop and facilitate educational programs for both builder and associate members on green building techniques. Facilitate national and state green certification programs. Work with Director of Member Services to include green build elements into existing events such as Parade of Homes & Landscapes and the Central PA Home Show. Develop partnerships with local entities to encourage local green building visibility and participation in local initiatives. Work with the Education & Legislative Committee to monitor legislative and regulatory activity relating to the green building. Membership: Chairman: LeAnn Houser, Graystone Bank Meets 2nd Wednesday of the Month Description: Work with the Director of Member Services to recruit and retain members through comprehensive membership programs. Help with developing membership goals. Review all applicants for membership and make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding approval. Help to establish benefits of membership. Plan and implement member appreciation programs and events. Provide mentoring to new members. Implement New Member Orientation segment of general membership meetings. Education / Legislative: Chairman: Dan Wise, Wise Construction Meets 3rd Monday of the Month Description: Work with the Executive Officer to develop and facilitate education programs for both Builder and Associate members. Plan and implement the annual Education Night. Participate in career fairs and career days at local schools. Develop partnerships with local entities to encourage industry visibility and participation in local affiliate groups and student chapters. Monitor local legislative and regulatory activities relating to the BA. Support state and national legislative activities. Keep membership informed. Build and maintain relationships with local, state and national government officials. Marketing / Public Relations: Chairman: George McMurtry, America's Carpet Outlet Meets 4th Thursday of the Month Description: Work with the Executive Officer to develop, coordinate and implement a strategic marketing plan for the association. Develop marketing goals, and determine strategies necessary for attaining said goals. Review all opportunities for advertising, sponsorship programs, branding / positioning, community service and publicity for the association as a whole. Generate press releases for association activities, goals and achievements. Make recommendations to the Board of Directors and the Executive Officer. Act as liaisons to the individual event committees to ensure consistency across marketing efforts. Monitor internal communication methods for efficiency and content. Standards: Chairman: Phil DeHaas, DeHaas Builders Inc. Meets as needed Description: Review and update the association’s complaint procedure and arbitration process. Review any incoming complaints, and assist with the mediation counseling program. Make recommendations to the board and other committees as necessary. Nominating: Chairman: Immediate Past President Meets annually Aug - Oct Description: Works with the Executive Officer to identify a pool of candidates for available board of directors and officer positions. Review all candidates and qualify them for positions of the board. Home Show: Chairman: Don Gilmore, Gilmore Construction Meets 1st Thursday of the Month Description: Works with the Executive Officer on the development, coordination and implementation of the annual Home Show, which provides a showcase for products and services related to the home building industry; educates the consumer; and promotes the BA. Responsible for coordinating move-in, set-up, tear-down, move-out, ticket sales, seminars, booth judging, exhibitor luncheon & hospitality, children’s building contest, solicitation for door prizes, recruiting sponsor participation, and arranges details with venue and outside vendors. Bricks & Sticks Classic: Co Chairmen: Betsy Dupuis of Babst, Calland, Clements & Zomnir PC and Chris Schoonmaker of S & A Homes Meets 1st Friday of the Month Description: Works with the Executive Officer, Director of Members Services, and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County staff to oversee planning and implementation of specific elements of the golf tournament including (but not limited to), creating course contests, recruiting sponsors, coordinating auction, and planning the awards banquet and Kick-off Reception. Parade of Homes & Landscapes: Chairman: Meeting times to be announced Description: Works with Director of Member Services to oversee planning and implementation of specific elements of the Parade including (but not limited to) identifying an appropriate charity, recruiting sponsors, participants and vendors, develop seminar topics, deliver signage & event materials to parade stops, coordinate judging and creating visitor maps, and supporting participants during the event. |
